Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

I utilize CBT and DBT because they speak to my neuroscience roots. I find that these techniques help clients to identify the unproductive thinking patterns that have become ingrained in their daily routines. They take thoughts out of unproductive, emotionally-based thalamic routes and learn to process these same issues in their pre-frontal cortex -- thus utilizing a much more rational, balance, and learned technique. This helps to identify irrational thoughts and beliefs, counter fear and anxiety/catastrophization, tackle OCD, and tackle overgeneralization, trauma, and blame patterns.

Person-centered Approach

A person centered approach is what allows my clients to take the reigns. I step in whenever needed and prompt my clients to take pause, stop, reflect, and revisit things they may have consciously or unconsciously glossed over. However, a person-centered approach emphasizes how much care for the client is considered. You lead the way, tell me what is weighing on you the most, where you want to start, and then i help guide you from there. I use an empathetic and compassionate perspective to walk this journey with you and hold space for you to enter into and process together.

Holistic Approach
 

A mind, body, spirit approach is critical to my perspective as a therapist. You cannot treat someone's mental health without considering the other components that are effecting it. I utilize evidence-based theoretical approaches such as the Wellness Wheel model, to identify areas that you may want to flesh out in your journey to health, balance, and joy.

 

I also utilize mindfulness, aromatherapy, yoga, breathing, creative arts therapy, and wilderness therapy for clients interested in these non-pharmacologic tools.

 

I have wonderful local relationships with many practitioners in functional medicine, chiropractic care, acupuncture, nutrition, aromatherapy, and traditional chinese medicine as well as traditional western physicians, OBGYNs, and psychiatrists!!! I would love to help guide you in ANY way that may help.
